One night, Marv and Vera watched Natalie's mansion, where Marv disclosed the plan to Vera. The pair of them ducked when a taxi pulled up, with Marv being unaware that it was Kevin himself arriving, as Kevin's father Peter McCallister was conveniently in a relationship with Natalie. Once Marv was released from prison, he cut ties with Harry as he realized that being with him had only resulted in jail, and later married a woman named Vera, with the pair of them starting to work under Marv's mother Molly. He then kicked the door open and, not noticing a gaping hole in the floor, fell down a three-story drop to the basement.
This scene was deleted as it would have made him and Marv too sympathetic and undeserving of the injuries inflicted upon them after falling into Kevin's traps. However, 8-year old child Kevin McCallister is home alone on Christmas Eve, having been accidentally left behind while the rest of his family went to Paris. Kevin manages to scare them off multiple times, but they eventually discover that he is alone and they have been tricked the entire time. Despite Marv's protests that they should not rob the house of a child that was left alone, Harry still persists with the robbery, declaring that the McCallister household to be the main reason he chose to rob the neighborhood in the first place. Furthermore, before encountering Kevin, Harry was able to learn which homes in the neighbourhood would be empty for the holidays, and managed to correctly predict which homes automatic lights would activate at what time.

Marv sticks his head through the doggy door and is shot in the forehead. ' version of "White Christmas" and once again screams from his father's aftershave as Buzz's tarantula roams free after escaping as a result of Kevin accidentally breaking the shelving. Kevin goes to the grocery store, where he encounters an inquisitive cashier. After showering, Kevin uses his father's grooming products, including his aftershave, causing Kevin to scream from the burning sensation in pain.
Kevin goes over to the window and smiles upon discovering that Marley took his advice, and watches as he and his son reunite and reconcile. While hugging his granddaughter and daughter-in-law, Marley looks up, sees Kevin and, smiling, waves to him as a sign of thanking him, and Kevin waves back. Buzz interrupts Kevin's musings by calling out, "Kevin! What did you do to my room?!" causing Kevin to run off. However, the Wet Bandits ambush Kevin at the top of the basement steps. As Kevin blesses his macaroni and cheese dinner, the clock strikes nine, and he runs to the kitchen, pumps the BB gun and says, "This is it. Don't get scared now" before hiding by the door. Harry and Marv torment Kevin at the back door and Kevin shoots Harry in the crotch with Buzz's BB gun through the doggy door.

In Home Alone 4, Marv shares little similarity to the character in the previous films, and instead resembles a taller version of his former partner in crime Harry Lyme. The following morning, Kevin was left alone when Natalie and Peter went to pick up the Royal Family. Once the pair disappeared, Molly contacted Marv to tell him he could make his move and enter the house with Vera. At that moment, Kevin locked Prescott in the wine cellar and tried to warn Molly that the kidnappers were coming, but she revealed she was the accomplice.

They gather at Peter and his wife Kate's home in Chicago the night before their flight. 8-year-old Kevin, Peter and Kate's youngest son, finds himself the subject of ridicule by his cousins and siblings.

They made it on the roof and see Kevin an inch down from the roof. When Kevin taunts them of a neck injury, Marv picks up one of the bricks from which Kevin threw at him. Marv yells "suck brick, kid!" and throws the brick down at him, but he missed. When they climbed down a kerosene-soaked rope to catch Kevin, Kevin set it on fire and the burglars attempted to escape, only to fall several stories and get doused with varnish. Recovering, he found a rope placed conveniently for an exit out of the basement. However, the rope was attached to a bag of concrete, which fell on him.
Marv then hears someone approaching and the video cuts to black as the sound clip of Marv screaming when Kevin put the tarantula on his face from Home Alone is heard. The video itself is a response to the DRYVRS episode that featured Macaulay Culkin reprising his role as an older Kevin and torturing a home invader . Daniel Stern, who played Marv in the first two films, was approached to reprise the role of Marv in Home Alone 4, but he declined it after reading the script, calling it "an insult, total garbage.". On the other hand, Joe Pesci was never approached to reprise his role as Harry, likely because he had retired from acting by then. Harry shares his name with the main antagonist of The Third Man, played by Orson Welles.
Opting not to enter then church to search further, they fled, and Kevin returned home. One evening while driving, Marv's partner, Harry, gloated about how the residents of the neighborhood informed him when they were going to leave for the holiday and that the McCallister house would be their prime target. Marv Murchins was a crook who regularly partnered with Harry Lyme, forming the "Wet Bandits", a name derived from their "calling card" of leaving their victims' water running and later, the "Sticky Bandits" after stealing money with a tape-covered glove.
